Dialing for Dollars the Smart Way

If you are a member of an inside sales team responsible for making as many calls a day as possible to generate leads for outside sales, how are you doing?

We know of one rep who makes 150-250 calls per day and has done so for years. You may wonder if he is still sane…or if he is at all successful. The answer to both is “yes.” He regularly passes along warm leads that actually turn into real business. Needless to say, he is a favorite with the outside sales team because he regularly produces.

Though it would take considerable skill to copy his approach or pitch once he has a prospect on the phone, there is one tip that is easy for anyone to adopt…and it can save as much as an hour-and-a-half per day. What is this simple gem? The secret is to skip the voice mail intro. As soon as you hear the voice mail begin, press 0 or 1 or # and go right to the beep that begins recording your message. That’s 20 seconds or so saved per dial!

While it does not seem like a lot.  It definitely adds up.
